The Red Star finally gave in . Despite an encouraging match, Habib Beye’s players lost to Monaco in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France. A bitter-tasting defeat. The Senegalese technician did not hide his remorse after the match.
“ There are regrets, a little frustration because we have the first chance of the match, and there is this save by Majecki at close range. The goal would have been deserved and could have made them doubt. Niko Kovac said he respected us, and we could see that Monaco was a European Cup team. We knew that we could give them problems in the width and we very often found ourselves in a center situation , ”Habib Beye told L’Equipe .
He also adds. “ The team showed personality and character, we had the ambition to show that we were capable of playing against an L1 team. I really liked the reaction of my players at 0-1, and we hit the bar for the first time. We then attacked on the kop side, and with that fervor in Bauer, it could have been another scenario. I saw a lot of disappointment in the locker room but I told my players that I was proud of them.
