Writer of XXL match against Manchester City, Wilfried Zaha has entered the history of Crystal Palace. The Ivorian is indeed the first player of the club to reach the bar of 50 goals in the Premier League. But the incident that has captured the most attention is above all the racist slurs against Zaha.
The Ivorian striker has shared many racist messages he has received on social networks. And then he stepped up to the plate. “Color will always be the real problem, but it’s okay because I’ll always be black and proud” the Elephant posted on his Instagram account.
Wilfried Zaha also blames the authorities. He argues that black players do not need sympathy but drastic measures. “It’s not enough to say no to racism, to be disgusted by the messages I have received and move on. We need action, education, things must change ” laments the 28-year-old Ivorian.
This is not the first time that the Ivorian has been the victim of racist insults. In 2020, he had already been a victim. Zaha had also decided not to put one knee on the ground in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. For the Ivorian this gesture is quite simply “degrading”.
