African Champions League: Wydad denounces an arbitral “massacre” and seizes CAF
Wydad, author of a draw against Mouloudia of Algiers, denounces the arbitration of the Ethiopian Bamlak Tessema Weyesa
Wydad decides to seize the African Football Confederation (CAF) after its draw against Mouloudia d’Alger (1-1). The meeting was played Friday, May 14 and counting for the quarter-finals first leg of the Champions League. The Moroccans complain about the goal unfairly denied to Walid El Karti, for an offside position, non-existent.
The Wydad Management Committee thus denounces an arbitral “massacre”. “Faced with this bitter observation. And in the face of the resurgence of such massacres, we believe that it is time to operate, urgently, a deep purge. And a complete overhaul of the African arbitration system… ” , writes the club.
The management of the Reds is asking for “a firm intervention from the leaders of the CAF to preserve, first of all, the brand image. But also the credibility of African football, as well as to guarantee equal opportunities for all clubs, without discrimination or injustice ”.
If the Wydad came back from their trip with an important goal, the team still does not take off. Especially since she was also “injured” during the return final disputed in Radès against Esperance Tunis in 2019. A valid goal had then been refused, without the VAR being able to intervene, because having broken down .
