LDC-Finale: why CAF chose Morocco
The Confederation of African Football has chosen Morocco to host the Champions League final. A decision that is not unanimous. Egypt contests.
A few months ago, four to five countries expressed interest in hosting the final, but only two candidates showed up properly. We wanted more countries to bid, as the final often pits Morocco against Egypt. .
A decision that makes people talk beyond the continent
Explanations that do not convince the former Swiss international Ramon Vega who did not hesitate to charge the instance. “ How does CAF play two successive Champions League finals in Morocco? No other African country can organize the final? #StopCafCorruption is a disgrace ,” the former defender tweeted. “ It makes no sense. Fans should ask themselves: how many countries are set to host the final? It is very expensive. If it were easy, we would discuss applications from around 10 countries ,” he adds.
CAF has also decided that the final of this edition of the Champions League will take place in a single confrontation instead of the two-way formula. CAF, however, said talks were “ underway within CAF to return to the old home and away final to determine the winner rather than the one-legged final. »
The Champions League final will be held at the Mohammed V stadium in Casablanca
